Located in north Fulton County, the city of Alpharetta is one of the fastest growing communities in Georgia because of its vast recreational activities, in addition to its host of major employers, superior education, and access to quality health care facilities. 1. Downtown Alpharetta Historic District
The historic district is located at the joining of North Main Street, South Main Street, Milton Avenue, and Academy Street. You will find several historic buildings from the late 19th century as well as modern buildings that host unique shops and restaurants along brick sidewalks. Stop by the Welcome Center at 178 South Main Street to learn more about the historic district.
2. The Alpharetta Arboretum at Wills Park
Go on a walking tour to see 26 designated arboretum trees. The walking trialhead is at the front parking lot at the Wills Park Equestrian Center on Wills Road. The Alpharetta Arboretum at Cogburn Road Park was also created and features a walking trail of seven trees.
3. Shopping Venues
Alpharetta’s main shopping venue is North Point Mall, which is host to over 150 stores including J.Crew, Aveda, Buckle, Coach, and The Disney Store. There are seven other shopping districts in Alpharetta that offer clothing, antiques, unique gifts, in addition to the Harry’s Farmers Market shopping district that will give you top quality wine, coffee, fish, and bakery items.
4. Alpharetta Big Creek Greenway
This is a 6.1 mile-long, 12-foot-wide pathway that travels through the wooded area along Big Creek. There is opportunities for walking, biking, roller blading, bird watching, and plant and animal education. Public restrooms are available.
5. Verizon Wireless at Encore Park
There is always something going on at the Verizon amphitheater, which boasts 45 acres and with an outdoor capacity of 12,000. The coveted Atlanta Symphony Orchestra has its summer home at the Verizon amphitheater and concerts are regularly scheduled there for top artists such as the Dave Matthews Band and the Eagles.
