As in many cities, foreclosures had a negative effect on some neighborhoods. Properties were left empty and yards began to grow. While some Atlanta home owners worry about the values of their homes, other Atlanta residents are taking an active approach to improve their home values.
Homeowner Larry Carter decided to enlist his neighbors in a neighborhood cleanup effort. The dilapidated and overgrown properties would no longer cause their property values to drop. Warren Jolly used his skills as a developer to bring green space to an area with empty buildings and unused concrete. This new area of his neighborhood is a park with an herb garden.
As homeowners & homeowner associations come together to provide a better look for their neighborhood, real estate agents are holding open houses and homes are being sold. The improving housing market has another twist, and the resource is caring neighbors.
